At Beards and Books, our volunteers are key to building a lively and successful organisation. But we understand not everyone has the time or capacity to take on more regular, long-term roles. Alongside long-term volunteering, we offer microvolunteering opportunities, spanning across a wide range of different positions. So, no matter how much or how little time you can spare to help out, we can find a project that’s right for you!
What is microvolunteering?
Microvolunteering is a type of volunteering where you might dedicate a couple of hours, a day, or a weekend to a certain project. This can be on a one-time basis, short term (for a couple of weeks, for example), or inconsistently. The idea is, there are no set hours or timeframes, and no long-term commitments. So, you can simply dedicate your time as and when you’re available.
Is microvolunteering right for you?
Microvolunteering might be right for you if you study or work full time, and aren’t able to commit to anything more regular. You could also use microvolunteering to trial different roles if you aren’t sure what you’d like to do, and gain experience in a variety of different areas. There are always opportunities to take on more long-term roles if you find yourself wanting to get more involved with what we do.
Microvolunteering with us
We offer microvolunteering opportunities for design-based roles, marketing and PR, photography, and resource creation, as well as more physical projects, such as clearing out storage facilities. Volunteering with us will expose you to new experiences and projects, as well as provide opportunities to network with those in similar positions. We also can provide certificates upon completion, which you can share with future employers.
